The Langlands Program and String Modular K3 Surfaces

چکیده
A number theoretic approach to string compactification is developed for CalabiYau hypersurfaces in arbitrary dimensions. The motivic strategy involved is illustrated by showing that the Hecke eigenforms derived from Galois group orbits of the holomorphic two-form of a particular type of K3 surfaces can be expressed in terms of modular forms constructed from the worldsheet theory. The process of deriving string physics from spacetime geometry can be reversed, allowing the construction of K3 surface geometry from the string characters of the partition function. A general argument for K3 modularity follows from mirror symmetry, in combination with the proof of the Shimura-Taniyama conjecture. PACS Numbers and

Motivated by the recent work of Kachru-Vafa in string theory, we study in Part A of this paper, certain identities involving modular forms, hypergeometric series, and more generally series solutions to Fuchsian equations. The identity which arises in string theory is the simpliest of its kind. There are nontrivial generalizations of the identity which appear new. We give many such examples – al...
متن کاملLanglands conjectures in TGD framework
The arguments of this article support the view that in TGD Universe number theoretic and geometric Langlands conjectures could be understood very naturally. The basic notions are following. 1. Zero energy ontology (ZEO) and the related notion of causal diamond CD (CD is short hand for the cartesian product of causal diamond of M and of CP2). ZEO leads to the notion of partonic 2-surfaces at the...
متن کاملZeta Functions of an Infinite Family of K3 Surfaces
Given a projective variety defined over a number field, a central problem in number theory is to write down all of its local zeta functions. The case of elliptic curves over Q has recently been settled, and here we study the problem for K3 surfaces, a natural two-dimensional analog of elliptic curves. This is in general a difficult problem, since at any prime, the nontrivial factor of the local...
متن کاملPrerequisites for the Langlands Program∗
For learning about the Langlands program, knowledge of Lie-group structure theory, algebraic number theory, algebraic geometry, modular forms, and infinite-dimensional representation theory is appropriate. This article describes how one can get a glimpse of the program with less background than this.

In a series of works [Bo3-5], Borcherds developed a theory of modular forms over domains of type IV which admits an infinite product expansion. Such modular forms are said to be Borcherds's product in this paper. Among all Borcherds's products, Borcherds's Φ-function ([Bo4]) has an interesting geometric background; It is a modular form on the moduli space of Enriques surfaces characterizing the...
